Peter Kirkov

Peter Kirkov is an experienced cybersecurity consultant with over 20 years of experience in strategic management, regulatory compliance, and the practical protection of information systems. His expertise in regulatory frameworks such as NIS2, GDPR, DORA, PCI-DSS, and others positions him as a trusted partner for organizations navigating the growing risks associated with AI-based infrastructure.

From 2021 to 2024, following his extensive experience in the private sector, he served as National Cybersecurity Coordinator of Bulgaria and Director at the Ministry of E-Government. In these roles, he led national-level incident coordination, international cooperation with the EU CSIRT network and CyCLONe, and the transposition of the NIS2 directive into national legislation. He represented Bulgaria as an alternate member on the governing boards of European agencies and led projects to establish national-level SOC capabilities.

Prior to his roles in public administration, his career spanned IBM, Deloitte, and Telelink Business Services, with a focus on IT audit, risk management, and policy development and compliance program implementation.

He holds ISACA CISA, ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor, and ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor certifications. He has delivered training at the University and High school levels and is a frequent keynote speaker at public cybersecurity events.
