About this session
Kubernetes is currently the most popular container orchestrator, often hailed as “the new operating system”. It is also specifically designed to be extended in order to achieve highly sophisticated operations goals. In this session, we will introduce basic Kubernetes extensibility concepts such as custom resources, controllers, and webhooks, and extensibility patterns such as the operator pattern. We will then demonstrate how these concepts can be leveraged to extend Kubernetes in two different interesting ways, using real projects as examples: – Run Kubernetes on any custom infrastructure that can provision compute and storage resources. – Effectively manage fleets of Kubernetes clusters on any provider (Gardener, https://github.com/gardener/gardener).
